For the past few weeks, you have heard me share that we will be offering the Alpha Course at LCPC. Alpha is a safe place to ask questions about Christianity and what it means to follow Jesus. We will be doing Alpha on Wednesday evenings at 6pm starting on September 9.
But I know that some of you can’t attend at that time but are still interested in participating. Let me share with you some alternative ways:
- You can go to alphausa.org and you can follow the video series that we will be viewing that will be the starting point for our weekly discussion. You will find the Alpha Film series that is being hosted at Lakeside Community Presbyterian Church or you can find “What is Alpha?” and follow the series on the web page.
- You can also download the Alpha App which is available on Apple and Android platforms and watch the series on your phone or tablet.
Each of these sites will allow you to watch the Sessions that we will be watching on a weekly basis and if you want, you can submit your questions to me by email.
You may also want to watch the Alpha sessions with a friend or coworkers and use the videos as discussion starters.
Alpha is a great way to introduce someone to the Christian faith and I hope that you will use it to be a witness for Christ to others.

Have you had questions about Jesus? Maybe you have wondered about the Bible or maybe had questions about prayer. We all have had questions about what it means to be a Christian and sometimes it is good to have a safe place to ask questions that you have always wanted to ask. You may even know some people who have questions and you want to bring them to a place where those questions can be asked. That is where Alpha can help.
Starting on Wednesday, September 9 at 6pm, LCPC is going to offer The Alpha Course, an 11-week video series asking and answering questions about the Christian faith. We will start off with dinner together our (first gathering will be pizza & salad), followed by a video, and then a question-and-answer discussion on the topic of the video. Some of the topics covered are:
- Is there more to life than this?
- Who is Jesus?
- Why did Jesus die?
- How can I have faith?
- Why and how do I pray?
- Who is the Holy Spirit?
- What about Church?
The course is a great way for you to invite a friend who may have questions about Christianity and in a friendly, caring setting, we are going to answer some of the questions people have.
What I would love for you to do, starting this Sunday, is to pray for the next 11 days until the Alpha Course starts. Pray for the course, for those that will be attending, and for those that don’t know Christ but may have questions. I want to ask you to pray at 11:02am for these things so set your alarm or the alert on your phone as together we pray! That’s because we want to follow Jesus’ prayer that His Kingdom would come, from Luke 11:2.
