Last weekend my family and I had a wonderful time celebrating with family and friends our son Aaron’s marriage to Kara Kono in Carlsbad, CA. Karyn and I are truly blessed to now have three additions to our family and God has been good through these busy 8 months of 3 marriage celebrations.
I need to say “thank you” to Garry Smith for preaching on Sunday. I appreciated his willingness to bring a message from God’s Word and to share with us the insights God gave him from the Scriptures.
This coming weekend we come to the final sermon in our series, “Hearing God.” Over the weeks we learned that God can and does speak to us. We can, as ordinary people make ordinary contact with the God who is ever present and is constantly reaching out to us. We can hear God speak through the Bible, through people, through acts of love in the world and this week we are learning that we can hear God through life’s circumstances. I hope that you will be able to join us, whether it is in person or online.
Know that I am praying for you.

LAKESIDE COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHRUCH:
YOU ARE THE BEST ADVERTISEMENT FOR CHURCH
You may think, “I can’t invite someone to church. It would be embarrassing, or it might be offensive to the person I talk with.”
But I will say it again . . .
YOU ARE THE BEST ADVERTISEMENT FOR THIS CHURCH
The best way to grow a church is person-to-person, relationship-by-relationship. A person is going to come because you invite them. If LCPC is to grow, it is going to come from you inviting a friend, a family member, a neighbor or a co-worker. It is going to come because you are excited about your love for Jesus and His church.
Maybe you have invited that person in the past and they said “NO.” Well ask again. Maybe this time they will say “No, Thank You.” And maybe the next time you ask, God may be tugging at their heart, they will be ready to come and say, “What time does church start?”
This is the perfect season to do the inviting. You have a great opportunity to invite friends and family to our Palm Sunday Worship service, Holy Week Communion services, Good Friday service and Easter Sunday Worship Celebration. We are even going to be making it fun to do the inviting.
This Sunday we will have flyers that you can give to a neighbor or a friend. But these aren’t just flyers, they are going to be attached to an Easter egg that you can attach to a neighbor’s door or hand out to one of their children. This will be an easy opportunity to let people know what is happening at LCPC during Easter Week.
Don’t forget . . .

So pray, then go and invite, and see what God might do.

“Out of t“Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;
Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications.”
Psalm 130:1, 2
As I read these verses, I can’t help but think of the cries of the people of the Ukraine. Today, millions of people have been displaced from their homes, millions are refugees. The invasion and war by a foreign country has caused millions to cry out and we cry with them.
If you read the rest of the Psalm (and let me encourage you to do that) you read that in the Lord there is hope. Mercy can be found in Him. He can redeem times when it seems like there is no hope.
The situation in the Ukraine cries out to the Lord. We along with millions of others cry out to the Lord to be heard. We cry out for mercy. We cry out for peace. We cry out for hope.
You may be going through a personal crisis where you cry out these same words. In your particular situation you may cry out to be heard, you cry out for mercy, for peace, for hope. May you, as you cry out and as your soul waits, sense the hope that can only come through Jesus.
Know that I am praying for you and join me as we pray for the people of the Ukraine.
See you on Sunday.

Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications.”
