Logos
Recently LCPC adopted a new logo for our church. Our prior logo was a sketch rendering of our church building. There was nothing wrong with the logo, it served as a good landmark when asked which church in Lakeside. The issue was, what did our logo represent? Did it convey our Christian beliefs? As a member of our congregation commented, “the logo represented a building, it did not represent our relationship with Jesus Christ.”
This led me to wonder why it is important to have a logo that tells the world about you. In my research, I looked up the Greek meaning of logos, it means the “word, a divine universal reasoning.” From a Christian perspective, we look towards John 1:1-3, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that as come into being” and, John 1-14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt amoung us, and we say His glory, glory as the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” And lastly, Jesus,himself said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end” Revelation 22:13. So a logo should convey the Word, truth, and transcends all time.
LCPC are followers of Christ, and our new logo represents who we believe in, trust, and with whom we have a relationship.
Gifts
What is really important in your life? What are you doing to make a difference either in your life or in someone else? I know from personal experience that there are moments when I’ve been so focused on myself or a family member that I missed seeing another family, friend or stranger in need. Every volunteer organization needs an extra helping hand, every church has needs that go unfilled. At LCPC we strive to serves the needs of many, yet there is always more to do that goes unfulfilled.
The Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians included a verse regarding the variety of gifts we possess and yet the gifts are of the same Spirit. Some of you may be great gardeners, while others will cause a plastic plant to drop its artificial leaves. Some may be great listeners, while others love to tell stories. Some may have the gift of teaching young or old, and others may share their voices or musical talents. Your talents represent a part of a whole. If you have not already done so, please consider using your spiritual gift and become an involved member in the body of Christ.
