Pastor’s Note 06/18/2026
Love God, Love People, Make Disciples of Jesus
Our church’s mission statement above is one that many would agree with. It is a statement that should be lived out not only by a church but in each of our lives and it fits within the narrative that Jesus taught throughout His life on earth.
When Jesus was asked by one of the experts of the law which was the greatest commandment, His answer was:
37 “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
(Matthew 22:37-40)
So, let me ask, how are you living out our mission statement? How are you loving God, loving people, and making disciples?
As the summer begins, think about how you will put into practice one aspect of the mission statement. What is one thing that you can do to love God more deeply, or to love others in a practical way, or make a disciple? Don’t make it complex, kept it simple but take a step to do one thing in one area to live out your mission statement.
As the weeks go by, I would love to hear how you are doing and how you are growing as a follower of Jesus. You can email me, text me, or we can go out for coffee.
Pastor’s Note 06/04/2026
One thing that we have done over the past few summers is pray together as a church. I love that we do this and that we use the same prayers together each day.
Below are the three daily prayers and there will also be “Summer Prayer” cards available at this Sunday’s worship service. You can take several cards (or print out several copies) and place them in different places where you will be reminded to pray (by your bed, in your Bible, tape it to your bathroom mirror, at the kitchen sink, in your car). Be creative!
So, let’s pray together and see what God has in store for us as we come together with our prayers.
2026 LCPC Summer Prayer
Summer schedules allow for routines to change and spending time in prayer can be one of those changes.
For the next 13 weeks of summer, pray three times per day:
- In the morning (when you awake).
- At mid-day (at 12:00pm).
- In the evening (before you go to sleep).
Below are the simple prayers that we can pray together:
Morning Prayer
Adapted from “Prayers for Summertime” by Phyllis Tickle
Mid-Day Prayer at 12:00pm
Heavenly Father, help me the rest of this day to use words and display actions that are a witness to Jesus. I know that I will not be perfect, so I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Holy Spirit, empower me to honor Your name. May I and other Christ-followers be light in our world. Thank you for Your love and grace.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Evening Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, by Your death You took away the sting of death: Grant me peace as I rest, knowing that I am Your child. When I wake, may I be more like You, loving others that I meet, trusting in Your provisions for all that I need. Amen.
